How Blizzard handles hacked WOW players

Telhazim (a guildmate of mine) was talking to Agranoz (another WOW player) last night and his account has been hacked.
Apparently to get his items back he has to pay 1500 gold for the cost of the shards due to current market price.
We all know Blizzard are against people exploiting etc, but it seems the only way he can get 1500 gold with naked characters, is to level a new character from the beginning. Or buy WOW gold lol.

Sure he can borrow off his guild, but you shouldn’t have to be dependent on other players in order for blizzard to fix your problems.
I would have told Blizzard I’m either going quit the game, or buy WOW gold, as they haven’t left him with any reasonable solution.

Just seems pretty odd that they ask for 1500g off an account with no assets or characters capable of making money.

That would definately suck to have that happen, especially in real life. “Look. I realize that you’ve been robbed of everything in your life, including your children and parents. But, really, the gov’t must take a total of 15 grand to repair damages.” You bettah digitally form a whole new family for me if I’m going to pay that much! Blizzard is lame.
