Securepoint hires Sasser writer

The german teenager who wrote the Sasser worm is being trained as a security software programmer and given a job.
Sven Jaschan, 18, has been taken on by the Securepoint computer outfit in northern Germany. He is apparently being trained to make firewalls, to keep his mates out of other people’s systems.
Jaschan still has to face the courts for writing the Sasser worm and could face jail and a huge fine.
TechWeb quoted Securepoint director Lutz Hausmann as saying that the kid deserved a chance. Jaschan told him during a job interview that he only became really aware of the consequences of his actions after it was too late.
