The beginning
I was born in 1979 in Norway in a small town, Sarpsborg. My first encounter with a computer was at the age of 6 or 7, a Amiga 1000. And when the Amiga 500 came out a couple of years later, I was totally hooked on the concept. This bond has been unbroken since then. But none of my friends was really into the whole computer age just yet and neither of them had a computer. But they had a big urge for sports instead, and I joined them. Sparta Warriors was the name, and hockey was the game. I did good to actually, with several merits to show for.
But in the end the Internet caught up with me around 1992-93, when my dad brought home a computer and hooked it up with the analog modem. A friend of my father, one of the pioneers working on Oslonett helped us to have Internet among the first private users in Norway. And so I got to know about the Internet, the websites and the general ins and outs.
The Present
Now with more than 15 years of experience, I work as a Network/System Engineer, with responsibilities like planning, implementation, administration, maintenance of different network electronics (switches, routers) and to ensure the integrity and security of the network data. Some of my tasks involve keeping contact with clients, providing consultancy, making design plans, front- and back-end integration, and building data networks.
Modern world
It’s the 21st century now and I hardly like constraints at all. My creed is that my work place can be anywhere in the world where there is WI-FI connection or a 3G/UTMS mobile network. Currently I live in Halden, at the southern-most border between Norway and Sweden. I work with a Toshiba Portégé R600-10W notebook, iPhone 3G 16GB cellphone and a Canon EOS 450D camera.
